Slow and Steady Wins The Race
SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE - anuaaryan.com
The old fable wherein the tortoise won the race even when it could not run like the hare has grown rather stale yet the truth it depicts remains Some people are full of enthusiasm at a particular moment. Their actions are full of vigour and speed. Still they don't reach their goal as they do not constant in their efforts. As soon as their sudden enthusiasm cools down they rabbit sleep-slumber like the hare. However intelligent a student may be, he does not shine if his efforts and studies do not take the shape of an ever flowing stream. Many a time a normal chap beats his friends by pushing his studies constantly and consistently. It may be slow but n jerky.
In the play, the hare was confident. He knew his purpose and mission, he knew his speed. Yet he took it all for granted. He began with a ferocious pace that put him well in front but his enthusiasm slowly started to dwindle. Because he was so far ahead he thought to himself he had time to lay down and take a nap. But oh how he missed out!
The tortoise, on the other hand, had a different sort of confidence — an “I think I can” sort of mentality. He knew his capabilities, he knew he was much slower than the hare. But step by step, his determination took root and slowly he reached his destination, the finish line, leaving the hare in his dust.
Life is like a marathon race. The journey is long and the competition are numerous. The candidate who gains speed gets tired soon and breathes heavily. His effort to gain speed again fails. A person who starts with a normal speed, constant and gains momentum, gradually crosses the line like a storm.
A person has to face many problems when he starts a business. It takes time to progress business and maintain them. The gestation period sometimes is long. A desire or craze for early gains may turn the apple cart. A person who gains profit always effort and patient till now he do not succeed.
So Like this is it about the growth and progress of a nation. Like this a sudden unbalanced decision taken in a hurry may be bring wrong. Like this one such action gives rise to a chain of actions harmfull to the nation. Such that the hurried acceptance of partition undid all that the nation had gained during the constant struggle for independence. The Indian leaders lost patience and the coming generations have to face the aftermath.
The proverb is meaningful. It is well explained by story about the hare and the tortoise. A tortoise moves very slowly. A hare is a fast runner Once the tortoise challenged the hare. The hare took it as a joke first. But the race actually started.
After running certain distance, the hare began to rest under the bush it thought it had plenty of time to beat its slow competitor. So it slept. The tortoise moved on and on. It reached the goal before the hare wake up Soon the hare saw its competitor far ahead. So it started at full speed. But it was too late. The tortoise passed the winning post. Thus it won the race.
The proverb gives a warming to lazy persons. A man may be brilliant. But he can not achieve success with out stead work. Only intelligence can not bring him success. We have many examples of talent have failed in life because of laziness. Sometimes they fail because of o confidence in their natural ability. The English poet Coleridge example. He had a high poetic power. But he could not work hard. So he began many things but completed very little.
An average man think that he can achieve success through labour Many ordinary people have done something great in life because of hard and steady labour. They are like the tortoise which won the race. In a school it is not always the cleverest boy that takes the prize. Prizes are often won by a steady worker of average intelligence. Thus the proverb teaches a lesson we can achieve nothing in life without hard labour. We must make use of every minute and do something creative. Even ordinary people have earned name and fame in the world. So we must work like a tortoise to reach the winning post
Such that we say that slow and steady wins the race.
Thanks / धन्यवाद 😉
